After what many winemakers are referring to as an excellent growing season in Australia, the Mollydooker winery shared their entire 2009 portfolio of Australian wines with wine blogger Brian Pasch.
Pasch visited the Mollydooker winery in April 2010 for the exclusive opportunity to be the first to taste and review the 2009 collection, including the 2009 Mollydooker Boxer Shiraz.
His reviews are published on Corkd.com, the most comprehensive and exciting source for wine news.
Part of what makes Mollydooker Wines so unique is that their portfolio can vary based on the quality of fruit harvested. The vineyard fruit is scored based on its Marquis Fruit Weight™ score. For example, the Boxer is only produced from vineyards that have a 65% Fruit Weight score.
The 2009 Boxer Shiraz by Mollydooker is a powerful and complex Shiraz with sweet fruit and lovely structural tannin. The Boxer combines the regional flavors of grapes from McLaren Vale, Langhorne Creek and Padthaway to offer incredible power and purity.
According to Pasch, “The 2009 The Boxer is an explosive, mouth filling Shiraz experience with integrated tannins and an amazingly long finish. There are no hard edges on this powerful Shiraz.” Pasch also suggests that the 2009 Boxer is possibly the best Boxer every produced by Mollydooker Wines.

Previous vintages of the Boxer have been awarded 93 points by Jay Miller at the Wine Advocate and 90 points from Harvey Steiman at Wine Spectator. The Boxer was also chosen as one of the “Editor’s Most Exciting New Wines”
The 2006 vintage received 94 points by Jay Miller at The Wine Advocate and was chosen as the #3 Best Value Red Wine from Australia by Harvey Steiman at Wine Spectator with 90 points.
Brian Pasch is releasing all of his notes from his exclusive tasting of the 2009 Mollydooker Vintage. Consumers can also join Pasch’s online wine community to learn more about each wine. The wine community website is http://www.weloveshiraz.com/

The Mollydooker team came across a great review about our 2008 Boxer Shiraz by a blogger who writers under the name “A Bottle A Day (Keeps the Doctor Away).”
We hear a lot of reviews about our Mollydooker Boxer Shiraz but the ones that mean the most are from wine lovers who have just discovered our Australian Shiraz. Here is what the writer of “A Bottle A Day” has to say about the Boxer:
I’ve been known to appreciate a good Shiraz/Syrah in my day, and this wine certainly follows that mindset. Mollydooker is an Australian Shiraz that I was introduced to by an uncle of mine who promised me that I’d really enjoy it.
Let’s just say that he wasn’t lying. Mollydooker is a light to medium bodied Shiraz. The nose is enticing in a sweet and strong way that hints at the full bouquet to come. The color, too, is intense and strikes me as a deep cherry. The flavor follows suit as as a complex hybrid of both dark and light fruits with an emphasis on the former. I’d say there is a hint of spice on the front end, and the back ends oh so smoothly.
Mollydooker is probably the best-tasting shiraz that I’ve had to date. Luckily, I have a very knowledgeable Uncle who was introduced me to a few great wines.
Mollydooker: A
Thanks to our new Mollydooker mate for the great review and we’re happy to hear that you love our 2008 Boxer Shiraz.
